The first three finishers from last month’s Shuvee Stakes (G2) reassemble Saturday at Saratoga for the $500,000 Personal Ensign (G1). Are we looking at a repeat victory for Fully Subscribed, or will the script flip in the rematch?

The Personal Ensign is part of the stellar undercard supporting the $1.25M Travers Stakes (G1) later that afternoon. The lineup includes the $500,000 Forego Stakes (G1), the $500,000 H. Allen Jerkens Memorial (G1), the $500,000 Ballerina Stakes (G1) and the $400,000 Lake Placid Stakes (G2).
In the Shuvee, Fully Subscribed uncorked a breathtaking rally to beat Scottish Lassie by a half-length. Snowyte, who set a pressured pace, held on for third, 5 ¼ lengths behind the winner.
“The way she went and reeled in a nice filly showed a lot of heart, determination, ability, and maturity. I'd say she's finding her best stride now,” trainer Chad Brown said of Fully Subscribed, who is seeking her first Grade 1 victory as the 6-5 favorite.
Personal Ensign Betting: Fully Subscribed has never been worse than third in eight career starts with a record of 4-3-1. The Shuvee was an impressive effort, but it was aided by the race dynamics.
Snowyte set a brisk pace with Scottish Lassie in close pursuit while Fully Subscribed settled comfortably in fourth. Jockey Jose Ortiz, who is having a sensational meet, might have misread the race. He moved Scottish Lassie prematurely, opening a 3-length lead at the top of the stretch. She was well in control but lacked the late-stage energy to hold off Fully Subscribed.
Jorge Abreu, Scottish Lassie’s trainer, was reluctant to pin the loss on Ortiz.
“I don't think so, but it's hard to say,” Abreu said. “She can run forwardly placed, and she can come from out of it. I think Jose gave her a perfect ride, and she probably didn't feel that horse coming on the outside of her until it was a little too late. I think she needed that race.”
We’re inclined to agree. The Shuvee was only the second start of the year for Scottish Lassie, who already owns a pair of Grade 1 victories in the 2024 Frizette and the 2025 Coach Club American Oaks. That speaks to her considerable back class.
Scottish Lassie (7-5) should be sharper and tighter … and we don’t expect Ortiz to make the same mistake twice in a row.
The Personal Ensign is the ninth race on the blockbuster program with post time set at 3:55 p.m. ET.
