What is the Forego Stakes?
The Forego Stakes is a Grade 1 sprint for older horses run at seven furlongs on Saratoga’s dirt track each August. Named for Hall of Famer Forego, three-time U.S. Horse of the Year (1974–76), the race is a marquee part of Saratoga’s summer meet and, in 2025, offers a “Win and You’re In” berth to the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile. For fans of online horse betting, it routinely draws elite sprinters and milers, creating deep fields and attractive wagering pools.
When is the 2025 Forego Stakes?
The 2025 Forego Stakes will be run on Saturday, August 23rd, as part of Travers Day at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York.
