

An early look at the 14 3-year-olds entered Monday for the $2 million Preakness Stakes (G1), the second leg of the Triple Crown. The 1 3/16-mile race on Saturday will be held for the first time at Laurel Park in Maryland while Pimlico Race Course is being rebuilt. Post time is 6:50 p.m. ET. The morning-line favorite is Iron Honor at 9-2. Three others are 5-1 – Taj Mahal, Chip Honcho, and Incredibolt.

Brings a 3-0 record into the first graded stakes of his career for trainer Brittany Russell. All three wins have come at Laurel Park, giving him the home-track advantage. The most recent win came in dominating style in the Federico Tesio.
Incredibly, winless Ocelli finished third in the Derby, two heads behind Golden Tempo and a head behind Renegade. Odds? 70-1! Comes into the Preakness 0-for-7.
Earned an automatic berth in the Preakness with a pace-setting win in the Bathhouse Row Stakes at Oaklawn Park. Has a record of two wins in six starts.
Surprise runner-up in the San Felipe Stakes (G2) and seventh in the Santa Anita Derby (G1), he got into the Kentucky Derby as the third also-eligible and finished 14th in the 18-horse field. He joins Ocelli as the only Derby runner to be entered in the Preakness.
Second in the Champagne Stakes to Napoleon Solo, Talkin came up third in the Wood Memorial but bypassed the Derby to focus on the Preakness.
Prepped for the Derby at the Fair Grounds with a win in the Gun Runner Stakes, a fourth in the Lecomte Stakes, a second in the Risen Star Stakes (G2), and a fifth in the Louisiana Derby (G2). Skipped Derby, although qualified to focus on Preakness.
Runner-up to Trendsetter in the Lexington Stakes (G3) on April 11 to give connections hope of a big score in the Preakness. New Mexico-based son of Authentic has two wins and two seconds from four starts.
Won the Rushaway at Turfway Park on March 24 after finishing seventh in the Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Feb. 28 as a test for a possible Derby start.

A last-minute entry by trainer Riley Mott after a sixth-place finish in the Kentucky Derby, where he was taken wide, then bumped with Renegade at the 3/16th-pole. It was his first start since winning the Virginia Derby at Colonial Downs on March 14.
Victory in the John Battaglia Memorial at Turfway Park got him into the Derby field via the also-eligible list, but he flipped and tossed his jockey before being loaded into the starting gate and was scratched.
New York-bred gelding has won his past two races, most recently at a mile at Aqueduct, so why not try a wide-open Preakness field?
