The Azeri Stakes is a Grade II American Thoroughbred horse race for fillies and mares aged four and older, contested over 1 1/16 miles on the dirt at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Named in honor of the Hall of Fame mare Azeri, it’s one of Oaklawn’s marquee early-season distaff stakes and often serves as a prep for the Grade I Apple Blossom Handicap later in the spring.
The 2026 Azeri Stakes is scheduled for March 7 at Oaklawn Park with a purse of $400,000. This date continues its traditional spot on the Oaklawn stakes calendar on the first weekend of March.
In the 2025 Azeri Stakes, Thorpedo Anna powered home to victory in the 1 1/16-mile race for older fillies and mares at Oaklawn Park, finishing 3 1/2 lengths clear of a competitive field. She carried top weight and continued to solidify her status as one of the leading distaff horses in North America.
