The Adirondack Stakes (G2) has served as a starting point for many top fillies over the years including the champions My Miss Aurelia and Sky Beauty. This year’s edition has drawn a field of eight juvenile fillies stacked full of promise.
Todd Pletcher has two fillies in the race, led by the New York-bred Pure Silver. A daughter of Mission Impazible, Pure Silver is owned by Twin Creeks Racing LLC. The filly is undefeated in two starts against state-bred competition, including a win in the Lynbrook Stakes over Astoria winner I Still Miss You in her most recent start.
Pletcher’s other filly in the race is Stainless, who is owned by StarLadies Racing. Stainless broke her maiden first out at Gulfstream Park in May before finishing third in the Schuylerville Stakes (G3) last out, 13 lengths behind the winner Dream It Is. In that race, the daughter of Flatter was much further back early than usual and had to go very wide on the turn.
Horacio DePaz also has two fillies in the race in the Sagamore Farm-owned pair of Southampton Way and Proportioality.
Southampton Way is a daughter of the red-hot juvenile sire Into Mischief. After finishing a distant fifth in her debut over a muddy track at Pimlico in May, the filly shipped to Saratoga and broke her maiden in her second start.
Sagamore and DePaz’s other filly in the race, Proportionality, is a daughter of Discreet Cat. Proportionality was a debut winner at Laurel in July and has posted several quick works at that track since then. Both fillies are Sagamore homebreds.
Another leading contenders for the race is the Mark Casse-trained, BG Stable-owned Sly Roxy. A daughter of Speightstown out of a mare by the outstanding broodmare sire Indian Charlie, Sly Roxy took an off-the-turf event at Saratoga on July 27 by 5 ½ lengths on a track listed as “good”.
Rounding out the field is the stakes-placed Di Maria and the debut-winning pair of Limited View and Wall of Compassion.
The $200,000 Adirondack Stakes is carded as the fourth race on the Saratoga program with an approximate post time of 2:44 pm ET.
