The Canadian International Stakes is a Grade I Thoroughbred turf race for horses aged three and older, contested over 1 1/2 miles at Woodbine Racetrack in Ontario, Canada. It’s the centerpiece of Woodbine’s Fall Turf Showcase and one of North America’s premier long-distance turf events, attracting a global field of elite staying turf horses.
The 2026 Canadian International Stakes is scheduled for October 3rd as part of Woodbine’s fall meet.
In the 2025 running of the Canadian International Stakes, Silawi (IRE) captured the 1 1/2-mile turf marathon at Woodbine. Over the years, the race has been won by many of the sport’s top turf stayers from around the world, including Secretariat (1973), Singspiel (1996), and Joshua Tree (multiple wins), highlighting its status as a globally respected turf event.
