The Raven Run Stakes was first run at Keeneland in 1999 and is named for Raven Run Nature Sanctuary near Lexington. The race became Grade III in 2002 and was upgraded to Grade II beginning in 2004. Its traditional 7-furlong distance has made it one of the most recognizable fall races for 3-year-old fillies, and Informed Decision set the stakes record of 1:20.86 in 2008.
The winners list includes several high-level female sprinters. Informed Decision later became a champion; Shamrock Rose won the 2018 Raven Run before capturing the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint, and recent winners include Wicked Halo, Vahva and Emery.
