What is the Summertime Oaks?
The Summertime Oaks is a Grade III Thoroughbred race held annually at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. Contested at 1 1/16 miles on the dirt exclusively for 3-year-old fillies, it is the premier early-summer dirt test for sophomore fillies on the West Coast and a key benchmark for the division targeting the Grade I Clement L. Hirsch Stakes and Breeders' Cup Distaff trail. The race was inaugurated in 1946 as the Hollywood Oaks at Hollywood Park and is one of the oldest distaff races in California racing history, with a roll of honor that includes Hall of Famers Hollywood Wildcat, Lakeway, Songbird, and Stellar Wind. Following the closure of Hollywood Park in 2013, the race moved to Santa Anita where it has grown in stature as the top summer dirt test for 3-year-old fillies in the West. Bob Baffert holds the record for most wins with five, including Cash Call in 2025.
