Once again, the Kentucky Oaks Lily is the Kentucky Oaks official drink for the ninth time, serving it as an alternative to the famous Kentucky Derby drink: the Mint Julep. Here’s how to enjoy it at home, while watching the Oaks of your own home and wagering from your mobile or tablet.
GREY GOOSE OAKS LILY
The official drink of the Kentucky Oaks
- 1 1/4 ounces Grey Goose Vodka
- 1 ounce sweet and sour mix
- 1/4 ounce triple sec
- 3 ounces cranberry juice
Mix the ingredients and pour them in a stemless wine glass with crushed ice. Add a straw and garnish with a blackberry and lemon wedge.
THE ORIGINAL OAKS LILY
- 2 ounces Finlandia Vodka
- 2 ounces sweet and sour mix or lemonade
- 6 ounces cranberry juice
- Splash of triple sec
- 6 blackberries
Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake until cold, strain into a tall glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with blackberries on a skewer. Add sipping straws and enjoy.
Serves 2.
BY THE PITCHER
- 8 ounces Finlandia Vodka
- 8 ounces sweet and sour mix or lemonade
- 24 ounces cranberry juice
- 1/2 ounce triple sec
- 4 ounces fresh water to make up for dilution of ice when hand shaking or stirring
- 24 blackberries for garnish
Combine all ingredients. Pour into a tall glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with blackberries on skewers. Add sipping straws and enjoy.
Serves 8.
Tip: This can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator until serving time.
