The post positions were drawn for the 2015 Belmont Stakes today in New York. American Pharoah in a bid to end the Triple Crown drought and ridden by Victor Espinoza and trained by Bob Baffert drew gate #5.
Although post position 1 has traditionally had the most Belmont Stakes winners, post position 5 has produced the second highest number of Belmont Winners.
Still, will the gate make much of a difference in the brutal 1 1/2 race? We don’t think so. As long as American Pharaoah continues doing what he has been doing– and Victor draws from his experience at Belmont, we should see a Triple Crown winner in 2015. The first since 1978 when Affirmed won.
Odds have not changed since the post position draw with American Pharoah still a 4/5 favorite to win.
Advance Belmont Stakes betting and Triple Crown Betting will be available later today.
