The Arlington Stakes is a Grade 3 Thoroughbred race held annually at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. Originally run at the historic Arlington Park in Illinois, the race was moved to Churchill Downs after Arlington Park closed. The event is now part of the early summer stakes lineup at Churchill and serves as a key prep for horses targeting longer turf races later in the season.
Open to horses aged four and older, the Arlington Stakes is contested at a mile and one sixteenth on turf and regularly attracts proven turf specialists as well as rising stakes contenders.
The Arlington Stakes will be on May 30th during the Churchill Downs Spring/Summer Meet.
Recent winners of the Arlington Stakes include Set Piece (2023), Rahystrada (2012 and 2013), and Mercante (2025). These turf runners used the Arlington Stakes as a stepping stone toward major events such as the Wise Dan Stakes, the Arlington Million, and other graded turf races throughout the season.
