Owner/trainer Jay Nehf discusses his horse Lord Admiral and how an upper respiratory infection may keep him from making his next scheduled start on March 17.
Jay C. Nehf is a Thoroughbred owner and trainer who was born in Chicago, Illinois. His first racetrack job was at Washington Park for harness trainer Duncan Price in 1969. After a few years, Jay became an assistant trainer for thoroughbred trainer Kenneth Hoffman, also in Chicago, and, in 1979, he took over the breeding management of Delray Training Center in Delray Beach, Florida for Arnold and Albert Winick.
In 1990, Jay went back to school and became a licensed radiology and MRI technologist. He raced a horse or two at Emerald Downs in the 2000s and then moved to California where he has been campaigning one horse at a time until this year, when he has three 2-year-olds and one three-year-old.
