The Jerome Stakes is a non-graded stake race held annually at Aqueduct Racetrack in New York. It is one of the oldest races in the United States, first run in 1866, and is contested over a distance of one mile.
The Jerome Stakes is scheduled to take place on January 3rd. The race is for three-year-old thoroughbreds and serves as a prep race on the "Road to the Kentucky Derby".
The Jerome Stakes has produced many notable winners throughout its long history. Early champions like Fusaichi Pegasus (2000), who went on to win the Kentucky Derby, and Kelso (1960), a five-time Horse of the Year, highlight its prestige.
