The Christophe Clement Stakes is a Grade 3 stakes race for four-year-olds and older fillies and mares, contested over a distance of 1 1/2 miles on turf. It is run annually at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida.
The race was first held in 1976 at Calder Race Course under the name La Prevoyante Handicap, honoring the Hall of Fame filly La Prevoyante. It relocated to Gulfstream Park in 2014 and later ceased being run under handicap conditions, briefly known as the La Prevoyante Stakes. In July 2025, Gulfstream Park’s owners, 1/ST Racing and Gaming, announced the race would be renamed the Christophe Clement Stakes in memory of the late trainer, a six-time winner of the event who first won it in 1992, which was his second graded stakes victory.
The 2026 Christophe Clement Stakes is expected to take place on January 24th.
Notable winners of the Christophe Clement Stakes include top horses such as Alpha Bella, Always Shopping, Si Que Es Buena (ARG), and Coretta (IRE). Many past winners have gone on to compete in major graded stakes during the season, which reinforces the race’s growing importance among bettors and handicappers.
