Unbridled Spirits, among the many off-track thoroughbred groups caring for retired racehorses, has been voted the best OTTB Organization for 2020 by US Racing fans.
The organization based in Lisbon, Iowa, and with several satellite locations around the U.S., received the most votes from the thousands received in balloting for the US Racing’s Best Of Awards.
Unbridled Spirits was founded in 2012. The Iowa location is a 145-acre ranch that has given sanctuary to hundreds of horses through the years.
Winners in seven categories were recently announced by US Racing “for contributions and activities that made positive impacts and substantial difference within the industry.”
For the win, US Racing will present Unbridled Spirits with a $1,000 donation.
The winners in the six other categories will be awarded $100 to be donated in their name to one of the finalists from the OTTB organization category.
The other finalists in the OTTB category were ReRun OTTB, Impact Equine, After the Homestretch, and Racing For Home.
The winners in the other categories are Authentic (Best 3-Year-Old), Sackatoga Stable (Best Owner), Umberto Rispoli (Best Jockey), Jonathan Wong (Best Trainer), Spendthrift Farm (Best Farm), and Chris Brown (Best Social Media Account).
“Congratulations to the top OTTB Organization winner, Unbridled Spirits. The entire industry remains grateful for the great work and contribution Unbridled Spirits makes to retired racehorses and the example of excellence they continue to set each year,’’ US Racing said in announcing the awards.
